Firestone Walker Fine Ales

The company was formed in 1996 by Adam Firestone and David Walker, after developing a patented oak barrel brewing system named "Firestone Union" based off of the 19th century Burton Union brewing method. The ale resulting from this method is called Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale. The company was named 2004 World Beer Cup Champion Brewery for mid-sized breweries, and their Firestone Pale Ale was named "Best Beer in America" by Men's Journal in 2006 .

Gordon Biersch Brewing Company

Dan Gordon and Dean Biersch joined together in 1987 to create a brewery restaurant.Only authentic, German-style beers would be served, and in the tradition of the ones Dan brewed while attending The Technical University of Munich, or the most renowned brewing school in the world. Beer would be brewed according to Reinheitsgebot (the age-old German Purity Law of beer) with only the finest ingredients: Hallertauer hops, two-row malted barley, and a special yeast strain imported directly from Germany.
In 1997, Gordon Biersch opened a state-of-the-art brewery and bottling facility in San Jose, CA in order to begin bottling and distributing its famed, German-style beers.

Great Lakes Brewery Company

Established 1988 by brothers Patrick and Daniel Conway, Great Lakes Brewing Company became the first microbrewery in the state of Ohio .
Approximately 1,000 barrels of beer were produced during the first year. The first brew, a Dortmunder-style beer originally called The Heisman (named for the famed football player who lived around the corner from Great Lakes Brewing Company) was an overnight success. The flagship brew was eventually renamed Dortmunder Gold, which was the highest rated "Dortmunder Style" beer in the world for 9 consecutive years. Other award-winning brews soon followed - Burning River Pale Ale , Edmund Fitzgerald Porter , Eliot Ness Amber Lager and Holy Moses White Ale and seasonal's like Nosferatu , Blackout Stout (commemorating the 2003 North American blackout ), Conway's Irish Ale , Moondog Ale and Christmas Ale.

Schoenling Brewing Co. was created in 1933. The two breweries merged in 1986, and in 1999 the company was sold to Snyder International Brewing Group. Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewing Co. is the last of the great Cincinnati breweries.
When Burger Brewing Company , a once dominant Cincinnati brand, announced its closure. Hudepohl stepped in and purchased the brands and recipes of Burger, which included Burger Beer, Bohemian Tap and Red Lion Malt Liquor. Burger Beer became Hudepohl's budget priced brand.
